We like sports. And we like bras. So when some kind PR peeps offered to send us some Shock Absorber sports bras to review, we said “yes,” naturally. We asked to try Shock Absorbers’ Active Sports Plunge Shape bra, pictured below. All of the brand’s bras are designed to “ban the bounce,” as the company says, so I thought I’d put mine to work during the bounciest time of all: the week before (warning: lots of personal info coming your way) that precious, lovely time of the month. I don’t know about you but, during that time, the cleavage fairies pay me a visit. I’m not complaining, however the bigger chest comes with bigger sensitivity — amounting to the perfect time to give a bounce-banning bra a trial run.
My thoughts, after completing one killer stairs workout and another circuit-style weights workout: this bra is golden. The straps are comfy — no digging in anywhere — and I particularly like the adjustable side fastenings that let you tighten or loosen the fit. I also love the racerback design in back and the plunge in front (which made the most of my temporary curviness). As for the bounce factor, when I wore a Lululemon bra with medium support on a run this weekend, I noticed a big difference between the two: the Shock Absorber kept everything tight, which meant no bounce or pain, while the Lulu bra wasn’t nearly as supportive, and thus more painful.
In short: I like it and will wear it often.
If you’re inclined to get your hands on your own Shock Absorber bra — and there are many styles to choose from — swing by Running Room or the Bay. Happy bounce-free working out.
