I’m really looking forward to Saturday night’s fashion event, Fabricated. It’s at a great venue — Theatre Junction at the Grand — and will feature lots of local fashion, including Jalu Clothing, Apiana Que, Peeko Apparel and menswear line KaaDiki. There will also be a trunk sale, with Calgary designers selling everything from jewelry to hats and bags.
To see what goodies we’re in for, I just spent far, far too long perusing the websites of everyone involved. (In the process, I consumed a sick amount of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Kisses. Oof.)
I love Gillian Hillerud‘s necklaces, like this one:
Michelle Fagundes‘ Isabelle & Sophie handbags are adorable. Check out this Darcy Coin Purse:
I haven’t just completed online research in advance of this fine-looking event — I’ve also spent some behind-the-scenes time with Haithem Elkadiki, dear friend, fellow hazelnut chocolate-lover and the designer behind KaaDiki, as he cast models for his show. (I’ve written about him before, here and here.)
Last Sunday morning, I swung by his studio for a visit. As we chatted and sipped on coffee from Kawa Espresso Bar, a few male models stopped in for their fitting.
Great coffee and male models…I know what you’re thinking and yes, it was a rough morning, indeed.
Here’s Haithem working with model Jason Goodwill:

It was fun watching him at work and checking out some of the great pieces we’ll see on Saturday. Like these M.C. Hammer-style pants. I can’t wait to see them on the runway. (High style aside, I can’t stop thinking that these may just be the Best Lounging Pants Ever.)

Fabricated will take place on Saturday, April 16; doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 8. You can buy tickets, which cost $17.50 apiece, here.
Hope to see you there.
